Beach Bums

Hey Everyone!
We are headed to the beach this Thursday for PB & J Day! Come join us at Tenney Park on the northside of Madison. There is a great little park we can play at, pack a picnic lunch and then swimming.
Since most of the kiddos are so little I am thinking we will play in the sand more than anything! The weather is supposed to be sunny and 80 which sounds wonderful to me.
See you Thursday, as always feel free to invite a friend!

A Minute for Mama

guilt: a feeling of responsibility or remorse for some offense, crime, wrong, etc. whether real or imagined.

So why is it whenever us mamas get a minute to ourselves we feel guilty? Whoever said a minute alone was an offense or crime? Whoever said the dishes need to be done right after lunch or the laundry needs to be folded during nap time or the floor needs to be scrubbed before daddy gets home?

Most mamas I talk to don't get much time to themselves and when they do their mind is racing, thinking about chores to be done or their husband struggling with the kids or the kids crying and sad. Even when we get our minute alone it is consumed by others.

Well that needs to change! I think our guilt is imagined, we too deserve and NEED a minute alone. And in that time alone it needs to be for us, not doing chores, not with the kiddos, not helping someone else but just for US. When Pace was born I started sewing; it is wonderful! I don't get a lot of time but when nap time rolls around I sneak into my sewing room and drift away, creating new baby items or fabric flowers, day dreaming and relaxing. Quite often feelings of guilt try to rush in and take over, I should be cleaning, I should be making dinner, I should be folding the laundry. Then I remember, doing something I love once in a while will make me a better wife, mama and friend.

Fellow mamas... take some time for yourselves this week... and don't feel guilty!!!

DeForest Splash Pad

Just got back from the splash pad and we had a great time! Kids ran through the water, played at the park and ate lunch together. Mamas soaked up the sun and had great conversation! If you weren't able to make it we missed you and hope to see you next week for PB & J Day!

Make that Wednesday Fun!

Hi Everyone,
If you know me at all I do not operate like this, changing plans at the last minute. However we have to change PB & J Day this week to tomorrow, Wednesday July 21st. Just found out I have a mandatory meeting in Rockford on Friday and my job commitments have to come first. So with that said tomorrow is FUN DAY, yeah!!!

We will meet at the Deforest Splash Pad @10am- bring a picnic lunch. There is a great shelter, bathrooms, park and water feature. If you haven't been to the splash pad, get ready it is fun! It is kind of hidden and a bit tricky to find though so here are some directions:
From Madison/Sun Prairie Area-
  • Take Hwy 51 North
  • Turn Left on Windsor Road
  • Continue all the way through town
  • Turn Right on River Road
  • Turn Right on Cuba Valley
  • Keep going til you see the park!
Can't wait to see you all tomorrow! Please email me with any questions.
My number is 608-215-1473- call if you get lost.

Friday Fun

Our next PB & J Day is scheduled for this Friday July 23rd! Hopefully everyone took me seriously when I said the day each week is flexible! I am just waiting to see what the weather looks like to decide our location. If it is nice we will do a park or the splash pad, if it looks yucky we can play at my house. I will let you all know tomorrow or Wednesday. Have a great day!

My House

We had a wonderful PB & J day at my house today. Trexen was excited to have friends come over and so was I! Everyone came around 10 with an abundance of energy and smiles from ear to ear. We started by filling the living room with train tracks, tractors, balls and farm animals. As soon as the mamas were practically yelling to hear each other we moved to the backyard. The rain stayed away so we could play. The kiddos flew down the slide, jumped on the trampoline, covered themselves with sand and fought over the swings. Lunch time arrived along with dinosaur shaped pb & j sandwiches, grapes, pretzels and dirt cups; the mamas had salads.
After lunch some kids stayed in and played, others went out. It was a fantastic time filled with fun and new friendships.
